See a hunk of clay become an elegant pot! North Carolina potters Hal Pugh and Eleanor Minnock-Pugh (New Salem Pottery) and Mary Farrell (Westmoore Pottery) will work live in clay at potter’s wheels in the center of the Museum’s Windhover Hall. They will demonstrate historic ceramic techniques and styles as they throw vessels, apply handles, and demonstrate slip decoration. These potters each have over 35 years experience in making pottery inspired by historic North Carolina ceramics, like those on view in the exhibition Art in Clay: Masterworks of North Carolina Earthenware. Results of their research appears in Ceramics in America (2010).
Windhover Hall. Free with Museum admission.
