Stevens was born in Milwaukee, and he lived and worked in the city throughout his career. Because he designed primarily for local clients, he and his staff of designers were responsible for creating some of the region's most iconic contributions to American popular culture: the Miller Brewing logo, the Willys Overland Jeepster, the 1949 Harley-Davidson Hydra-glide motorcycle, the Evinrude outboard motor, and the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, just to name a few.
