March 12, 2010 | 12:30–2 p.m..
Attend a docent-guided tour of the Museum’s collection, exploring the menagerie of wild beasts that inhabit the artwork within the galleries. Then, gather in the Museum’s Windhover Hall for a Danceworks Performance Company (DPC) dance performance inspired by Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are and set to Randall Woolf’s score. The DPC dancers will lead an participatory creative movement piece for students prior to the performance, connecting the creatures featured in the works of art from the tour to the Wild Things performance.
This school tour program is 1½ hours in length. Students participate in a docent-guided tour in the galleries, then attend a performance, at the Museum, by Danceworks. The special program fee is $6 per student, which includes Museum admission. One chaperone for every 10 students is required, and that chaperone’s Museum admission is free. For any additional chaperones, the special program fee is $6. Call the Milwaukee Art Museum at 414-224-3842 to reserve seats for your school group and to schedule your docent-guided tour. Limited seating available.
