Grades 3-5
October 21, 2009 | 9 a.m. – 11 a.m..
Attend the On Wisconsin! performance by storyteller/entertainer Bob Kann, and then explore Wisconsin History in Art through a docent-guided tour of the Museum’s Collection. Both the performance and tour take place at the Milwaukee Art Museum.
Celebrate Wisconsin’s rich history through tales of America’s Dairyland. Hear stories about Dr. Kate Newcomb, the Woodruff “angel on snowshoes,” Wisconsin inventions like ice-cream sundaes, “Old Abe” the eagle who lived inside the state capitol, magician Harry Houdini, Eric Heiden’s Olympic gold medals, the Racine Belles women’s baseball team, John Muir’s homework machine, the Ringling brothers, and much more!
This school tour program is 2 hours in length. Students first attend the theatrical performance, which includes a talk-back session, then participate in a docent-guided tour in the galleries. The special program fee is $7 per student and chaperone, which includes Museum admission. Call the Milwaukee Art Museum at 414-224-3842 to reserve seats for your school group and to schedule your docent-guided tour. Limited seating available.
