Milwaukee Art Museum -- Learn + Play

Studio Workshop School Program

Be the artist! Explore various well-known artists using the Museum’s Collection, and then create your own art in the studio. Works of art and studio projects vary by grade level within each topic. Choose one of the following topics that supports your grade’s curriculum:

Color Magic
(Grades PK – 5)
Each has a taste. Each has a smell. Enter the magical world of color! See how much color says and means to us through art. Students create their own color magic in the studio.

Animals
(Grades 3-5)
Come meet the animals of the Milwaukee Art Museum! They exist in paintings and sculptures from many places and times. Students create their own beasts in the studio.

Portraiture
(Grades 3 – 12)
Learn about the eyes watching you! Explore how artists use color, texture, and much more to reveal the person behind the eyes. In the studio, students use various materials and techniques to create portraits.

This 2½-hour program is developed for school groups of 20 to 60, maximum. Groups of 30 or more students will be divided into two groups, and will rotate activities during the program. This program is available Monday thru Friday, except Thursday morning.

The special program fee is $7 per student, which includes Museum admission. For more information about this program, contact the school programs assistant at 414-224-3834 | joan.schlehlein@mam.org.
