The Milwaukee Art Museum is in downtown Milwaukee, 90 miles (1.75 hours) from Chicago, 75 miles (1.5 hours) from Madison, and 120 miles (2 hours) from Green Bay. The Museum is located on Lincoln Memorial Drive at Michigan Street, on the Lake Michigan shore.

Parking


The Museum has an air conditioned/heated underground parking garage, accessible from Michigan Street or Lincoln Memorial Drive.

Open weekdays 8 a.m.–5 p.m., Thursdays until 8 p.m.
Open weekends 9:45 a.m.–5 p.m.

Parking rates:
15 minutes: free
< 1 hour: $4
1–2 hours: $6
2–3 hours: $8
3–6 hours: $10
6+ hours: $15

Member discount:
5-visit pass for $20

Additional parking:
O'Donnell Park garage, across the street from the Museum. Enter from Lincoln Memorial Dr. Wisconsin Ave., or Michigan St. Hourly rates on weekdays; $6 evenings and weekends.
War Memorial north lot, just north of the Museum on Lincoln Memorial Dr. $5 daily.
Metered parking is available on city streets near the Museum. Weekday rates up to $1/hour; free on weekends.

Public transportation


Milwaukee County Transit bus route 10 stops on Prospect Ave., across O’Donnell Park from the Museum. Routes 10, 12, 20, 23, 30, 31 and 137 serve the Downtown Transit Center on Wisconsin Ave. at Cass St., one block west of the Museum.

Ozaukee County Express route 143 runs on weekdays. It stops at the Downtown Transit Center one block west of the Museum, with service from Cedarburg, Fredonia, Grafton, Mequon, Port Washington and Saukville.

Amtrak trains serve the Milwaukee (MKE) station, 1.3 miles west of the Museum. There are 14 trains daily between Chicago and Milwaukee.

To reach the Museum, walk north on 2nd St. under the highway 3 blocks to Michigan St. Turn right (east) and take Michigan St. 0.8 miles until it ends at Lake Michigan, next to the Museum. Alternately, continue one block further on 2nd St. to Wisconsin Ave. then take any of the MCTS busses listed above.


Accessibility
The Museum is wheelchair and stroller accessible. Wheelchairs, if needed, are available from the Admissions Desk. Handicapped parking is available in the underground parking garage. Please note: Backpack baby carriers are not permitted in the galleries.


Biking
Bike racks are available on the Museum grounds. The Oak Leaf bike trail passes right alongside the Museum.
